Inspired by the Nordic countries' approach to this issue, we were the first in the Czech Republic to create a program of care for top athletes with eating disorders. It is the deadliest psychiatric illness, with a mortality rate of more than 20%. The prevalence of the disease in athletes is up to 35%.
A multidisciplinary team of experts (physical education doctor, psychiatrist, nutritional therapist, psychotherapist and coach) helps the athlete on their way back to the training process.
